Marion County deputies say this woman, shown here in surveillance images, is a person of interest in a fraud investigation.

A Salem restaurant owner found hundreds of personal documents, along with purses and wallets in her business's dumpster Friday.

The owner of BlondZee's Guest House Restaurant and Lounge said she first noticed the items in the trash and then looked at security cameras.

Surveillance video from outside shows a red car pull up and stop. A woman with long brown hair is seen getting out of the car and carrying multiple bags into the trash before quickly driving off.

"There was a check books full of checks, birth certificates and driver's licenses," Melissa Lucas, the owner of the restaurant, told KATU News.

Marion County Sheriff's Office said the woman is a person of interest in a possible fraud case.

Lucas is concerned the people involved might be victims of identity theft.

"Identity theft is a huge, horrible crime. It hurts a lot of people," she said.

Michelle Nelson's documents were found in the trash and discovered by Lucas. The restaurant owner contacted Nelson on Facebook.

"(Lucas) told me what she had, and I was like, "Wow."

Nelson told KATU News items were stolen from her car on Aug. 27, when she was parked at the Oregon State Fair.

She hopes deputies are able to catch the person or people involved. Nelson said the woman is clearly identifiable in the video.

"It's just a matter of hours," she said.
